Hey neighbor 👋
In this week’s extra Spotlight issue we're pointing the spotlight at Smithville. There's craft beer and live music brewing out near the airport, a Father's Day party at the taproom, a downtown book signing, and the Sunday market back at Railroad Park. Across the county, Bastrop Juneteenth marks its 40th anniversary with a parade, a Freedom Festival, and a street dance, and the data center town halls give neighbors a chance to ask questions in person.
Let's dig in.

Craft beer, live music, and room to breathe | Smithville, Texas
Drive out toward the Smithville municipal airport and you'll find three acres of Texas sky and a family-owned brewery that has quietly become one of the best hangouts in the county. Smithville Brewing Company was built on a simple idea: make beer people actually want to drink, and create a place where everybody feels welcome. On a warm evening, with a cold pour in hand and a band playing, they've pretty well nailed it.
This is a brewpub in the truest sense | the beer is brewed on site, and there's a full kitchen turning out the kind of food that goes with a pint. The taproom pours craft beer, wine, and non-alcoholic options too, so the designated driver and the kids aren't stuck with water. Sunday afternoons bring live music from 4 to 6pm, and this Sunday they're throwing a Father's Day party | a fine excuse to bring Dad out for a beer and a burger.
A few things worth ordering:
🍔 Hamburgers | hot from the kitchen, the house favorite
🍕 Wood-fired pizza | made to share at a picnic table
🧀 Loaded nachos | piled high, built for a crowd
🍺 A flight of house brews | sample what's on tap before you commit
